Hon. Desmond Elliot – LWC BOSS ASSURES RESIDENTS OF SURULERE AREA OF REGULAR WATER SUPPLY
Lagos Water Corporation, Managing Director, Engineer Muminu Adekunle Badmus has assured the Residents of Animashaun, Kernel, Johnson, Itolo and Jimoh Streets of Surulere Area of Lagos metropolis of regular water supply.
This was revealed at a Community meeting organized by the member of the Lagos House of Assembly representing Surulere Constituency, Hon Desmond Elliot at Kernel Park, Kernel Street, Surulere, Lagos recently. The Honourable wanted a lasting solution to the problems of interrupted water supply facing the area and asked for joint co-operation between the Residents and LWC to hasten-up supply of potable water in Surulere area.
In his statement, the Executive member of the Community Development Association (CDA) Mr. Sunday Essien said ‘’we have been facing a lot of problems in our area such as Interrupted water supply, Over billing, etc’’. He requested for an urgent solution to these problems as they are unbearable.
While responding to their requests, engineer Muminu Badmus attributed the problems to the Epileptic power supply from the national grid, Gas disruption by the militant from the Niger-Delta, which effecting the Independent Power Plant (IPP) at Akute, Road rehabilitation and expansion, On-going Mains rehabilitation and extension in Surulere Service Area. He further explained that whenever there is interruption in power supply it really affect water production and result in drop in supply.
However, MD has assured the Residents of potable water supply soon as all hands will be on deck to fulfill primary responsibility of the Corporation of “providing potable water to all”. He said after completion of other notable projects such as on-going Construction of 70mgd Adiyan phase II, On-going Mains Rehabilitation and Extension in Surulere Service Area, Rehabilitation of 45mgd Ishasi Waterworks etc water supply will be in abundant.
The Lagos South-East Regional Business Manager, Engr. Adeyemi Abass pleaded with the Community Association and assured those that have not be connected back into the System as a result of vandalization due to road rehabilitation and expansion, will be connected back soon.
In his vote of thanks, the representative of the CDA, Mr. Ade Laja thanked the representatives of the Corporation the led by Engr. Badmus for their timely responds to their calls, and asked for God’s guidance and support to move the Corporation forward, he concluded.
