
CELEBRATION OF LAST DAY IN OFFICE: LWC STANDS STILL FOR IJAIYA, AKINTADE
Lagos Water Corporation, Water-House, Headquarters, Ijora, Lagos, on Friday 8th October, 2021 stood still for the Celebration of Last Day In Office Of her two Proficient and Prominent Engineers (Staff) of the Corporation, *Engr. Ijaiya Abayomi Suraj (A Father of Modern and Epoch Age in LWC, An Incomparable Pillar in Water Distribution in Lagos State, and Engr. Akintade Monsurat Atinuke (A Virtuous Woman, a Proficient “Man” in Engineering Profession*.
The milestone event described as historical, memorable and exciting witnessed large number of turnout within and outside the shore of the Corporation. Among were Mr. Pathfinder, the LWC Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus; Former General Manager (GM) of the Corporation, Engr. Tawakalitu Williams; LWC Chief Operating ANDTECHNICAL (COO), Engr. Deji Johnson; LWC, Head, Audit Assurance, Mr. Aro Ibrahim; LWC, Head, Safety and Security, Mrs. Aramide Williams; Head, Property and General Services, Mr. Salami Rasheed.
Others were: Head, Distribution, Engr. Abass; Head, Technical Services, Engr. Ibraheem Y.; Head, Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Sheriff Akinpelu; Head, Sales and Commercial, Mr. Michael Ajose; Head, Customers care, Mrs. Adedugbe; Head, Water Quality, Mr. ‘Doyin Omotayo; Head, Finance and Accounts, Mrs. Sain John, amongst other notable Heads of Departments, Management and Staff of LWC.
Also in attendance were, different Captains of Industries, Families, Friends, Associates, Well wishers and other dignitaries.
In his Keynote address, LWC MD/CEO, Engr. Muminu Badmus thanked the former General Manager, Engr. Tawakalitu Williams for her immense contribution to LWC, the largest Water producer in Sub-sahara African.
“I thank Almighty God for today, also thank Engr. Williams for your presence and I feel proud to be associated with you”.
He described Engr. Ijaiya Abayomi Suraj as a Diligent, Hard working and Intelligent person which has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the Corporation.
LWC boss also Congratulated Engr. (Mrs). Akintade Monsurat Atinuke this Occassion, and assured both Celebrants that the Corporation will continue to look up to them, because LWC is their home and prayed that all their efforts will never be in vain.
“You are retiring today, your retirements will be fruitful and will never regret your retirements.
While Congratulating the entire Staff, the LWC Managing Director/CEO, later presented Meritorious Certificates to the two Outstanding Engineers, Engr. Ijaiya Abayomi Suraj (Executive Director Engineering and Technical Services) and Engr. (Mrs). Akintade Monsurat Atinuke.
Assuring the Retirees that the entire Staff left behind will continue to be proud of them, and the legacies left behind will be their guiding light.
However, the LWC boss boasted of the Corporation prompt payment of Retirement benefits in Lagos State, as LWC leads in Prompt Retirement Benefit Payments/Settlement in the State.
In her contribution, Engr. Tawakalitu Williams thanked the LWC, MD/CEO, COO, Management and entire Staff for their efforts towards moving the Corporation forward.
While congratulating the Celebrants, (Engr. Ijaiya and Engr. (Mrs). Akintade) Engr. Williams reminded them that “Retirement is not Merry Merry, but a stage in life to serve destiny, no money you keep in the bank can serve you for the rest of your life time.
“You are retiring today, but not tired, you need to work to serve God, help the poor, as you are returning home one day.
“You need to help people to get help from God Almighty”.
While taking the entire Staff to memory lane, the former LWC, G.M. added that she left LWC 25years ago and knew Engr. Ijaiya since 1987.
During his Opening remarks, the LWC Chief Operating Officer (COO), Engr. Deji Johnson requested for a Standing ovation for the two distinguished celebrants in appreciation of their immense contribution to the Corporation.
He reaffirmed that the Celebrants are leaving a good legacy and should be cherished.
“A legacy is not a physical thing you see, it is something you cherished.
“As you are leaving the Corporation physically, you will be recognised and remembered for your contributions”.
Hoped that other Staff members will take up from where they left the good work, he concluded.
In appreciation of the Corporation’s outstanding gesture, the Retirees (Celebrants), Engr. Ijaiya and Engr. (Mrs). Akintade thanked Almighty God, the Lagos State Government for giving them the opportunities to work for the State, LWC, MD/CEO, former G.M., COO, Management Staff, entire Staff and all other present at the auspicious occasion of theirs “Safe Landing”, and Celebration of Last day in Office.
Engr. Ijaiya stated that hard work has helped him to make a different and urged other Staff imbibe hardworking and always believe in theirself.
“Always Say Yes We Can Do It”.
In her swift response, Engr. Akintade stated that the Passion and Vigour she has for the work really pushed her forward to perform better, as she urged other Staff not to let the LWC Vision Statement sweep away, as the vision is to produce adequate quantity of potable water supply to Lagosians.
It is noteworthy that the Retirees (Celebrants) received much accolades and encomium before, during and still trooping in, as words alone are not enough to describe or express their contributions to LWC growth and development.
