LWC HOSTS ELP, COMMENDS EFFORTS FOR BETTER LAGOS

… urges to use the platform to educate Lagosians to connect to public water, report burst pipes, payment of water rates*_
Lagos Water Corporation on Wednesday 13th October, 2021 received delegates from Environmental Lagos Platform (ELP) at the LWC Headquarters, Water-House, Ijora, Lagos.
The EPL visit to LWC was in appreciation of great supports from the state Ministries Departments, Agencies (MDAs).
While treating the guests/delegates led by the Platform Coordinator, Mr. Lanre Roland to a warm welcome and reception at the LWC Boardroom, Ijora, Lagos, the LWC, Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus commended the efforts of ELP Platform towards making Lagos State (“Centre of Excellence”), a better place for us to leave.
In his welcome address, the MD/CEO thanked the group for doing a wonderful job, particularly, in bringing the Citizens and Government together through prompt reportage of issues affecting Lagosians.
He urged the Platform to also assist the Corporation to educate the general public on the need to connect to Public Water Supply, to desist form sabourtaging government efforts, by damaging water properties (Mains and Pipes), reportage of burst pipes, leakages and need to pay water rates, adding that the Corporation is continously sensitising the public on these challenges/issues.
LWC MD/CEO stressed that the Corporation is trying her possible best to close water demand gap in Lagos State through production and supply of potable water from LWC Major and Mini waterworks spread across the State, though faced with numerous challenges hindering her operations.
“Presently, we are struggling to meet water demand and to deliver water supply to every households in the State, but we are making efforts, though, may not be enough, but we are improving”.
Engr. Badmus however urged the group to introduce other communication gadgets to improve and close communication gap among members for better performance.
In his statements, Mr. Roland thanked the Corporation for the warm reception, describing the WhatsApp Platform as a Social Bridge, to bring the Government and Citizens together, by taking reports from the public and bring it to the Government.
While appreciating the Corporation for her continous support, the Coordinator stated that what started as a WhatsApp group has now extended to five (5) Arms for better performance.
ELP platforms take report from the public and bring it to the notice of the Government, who immediately respond, adding that the group involves Private and Government Officials in different field, MDAs (Ministries, Departments Agencies) across 30 Local Government Areas (LGA) and 27 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) in the State.
Lagosians appreciate our efforts in meeting their needs through their Complaints, that why we are paying “Appreciation Visit” for their supports.
Lagosians talk to us, we talk to the Government of the needs of the Citizens, Mr. Roland concluded.
“Environmental Lagos Platform is a Citizens-Government Group that was established in 2017, with the aim of improving government’s Service delivery to the people; by channelling it to the precise point of need.
“It is a WhatsApp Platform that allows Residents of Lagos to post complaints about the Environment, Drainage, Canal, Roads, Transportation, Water and other Infrastructure and Security on to the Platform and the State Officials will now promptly attend to such Complaints”.
Others members of ELP delegates present were: Mr. Olorunlobe Adeniyi, ICT Manager and Mr. Yaya Babatunde, Funds Support Manager.
LWC management team at the meeting included, Mr. Bolaji Ogunlewe (Director, Project and Strategy), Engr. Abass (Director, Distribution), Mr. Sheriff Akinpelu (Director, (Administration and Human Resources), Mrs. Yetunde Adedugbe (Director, Customers care), Mr. Michael Ajose (Director, Sales and Commercial), Mr. Doyin Omotayo, (Deputy Director, Quality Assurance), Mr. Adekola Mutiu ( Director, Production), Mr. Lanre Fashola (Deputy Director/Company Secretary), Mrs. Ogunnaike Bolaji (Assistant Director, Administration and Human Resources, Pension Unit), and Mr. Anifowoshe Rasaq (Assistant Director, Public Affairs).
