The National Urban Water Sector Reform Project (NUWSRP) II intends to develop an infrastructure that contributes to the economic development of the country, the well-being of the population, promotion of balanced and sustainable economic growth and reduction of inequalities in Lagos and Cross River States.

The project has three complementary objectives:

  • To improve the reliability of water production (treatment plants);
  • To improve the access to water supply networks in selected areas;
  • To improve the commercial viability of participating water utilities.

The World Bank has been financing the NUWSRP II in Lagos to the tune of USD$135.6million dollars since 2005 while the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) is supporting the project with USD$33.8million in Lagos alone.

Nigeria Network of NGOs (NNNGO)

The Nigeria Network of NGOs (NNNGO) is the first generic membership body for civil society organizations in Nigeria that facilitates effective advocacy on issues of poverty and other developmental issues. Established in 1992, NNNGO represents over 1800 organizations ranging from small groups working at the local level, to larger networks working at the national level.

The Network is charged with the objective of identifying, registering, coordinating, building capacity and mobilizing civil society organizations to promote interconnectivity and bring equity, justice, peace and development to grassroots communities throughout Nigeria, including the implementation of NEEDS, SEEDS, LEEDS and the MDGs.

NNNGO is in partnership with Lagos Water Corporation in a Citizen’s Financial Responsiveness Project. The project seeks to provide a Citizens feedback system that enables LWC become more responsive to her customers and Stakeholders. The project seeks to provide more avenues of engagement and communication through workshops, road shows, sensitization visits and finally an Online Customer feedback System which goes with a Mobile Application.
