The Group Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus was at the site of the ongoing repair of 1600MM diameter pipe, Akute Intake yesterday 20th November, 2018 to fast track the repair work, to restore potable Water supply to the affected areas of Lagos State.

Yesterday, the repair work was completed and tested for another another leak to surface once again.

The team of engineers/experts will continue with the repair exercise today Wednesday 21st November, 2018 as the LWC Management is leaving no stone untouched for the immediate completion of the repair to supply water to the affected areas and Lagos State in general.

Lagos Water Corporation has been very proactive towards putting all LWC Waterworks in a perfect shape to deliver potable Water supply optimally to Lagosians with periodical maintenance exercises of its facilities.

The efficient and effectiveness of the Corporation has earned the Corporation series of Awards locally and Internationally. The recent Awards is the “2018 Evergreen Water Company of the year Award, conferred on LWC by Construction and Engineering Digest (CED) forum, in recognition of the Corporation’s outstanding role and immerse contributions to the Nigeria Environment, Humanity and indeed growth of National Development.

The ongoing repair is expected to be completed very soon to restore water supply.

The Lagos Water Corporation has recently bagged the 2018 Evergreen Water Company of the Year Award in recognition of the Corporation’s achievements in the water sector of Lagos State.

The Award ceremony which held at the Sheraton Hotel Ikeja, Lagos was presented by the Construction and Engineering Digest Forum, to the Chief Operating Officer of the Corporation, Engr. Deji Johnson, who was present at the event to receive the award on behalf of the corporation.

Engr. Deji Johnson in his remarks expressed his appreciation to the organizers of the award ceremony, stating that this would serve as an encouragement to the corporation to do more.

This award is in acknowledgement of LWC’s outstanding role and immense contribution to the environment, in line with growth and national development. The presentation of the Award also coincided with the Magazine’s 25th Anniversary Ceremony/ Gala Night.

 

Lagos Water Corporation has assured the Lagos residents of Water supply soon.

The LWC Group Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Badmus said this today in Lagos while addressing the media over the present disruption of Water supply in some areas of the State.

The Corporation boss revealed that the disruption is due to the ongoing repair of Water leakages at the LWC Akute Intakes, which adversely affected Water production and supply at the LWC Major Waterworks of Adiyan.

He however expressed his appreciation to the general public, particularly those that have been affected by Water disruption.

While thanking Lagosians for their Patience, Endurance, Cooperation and Support at this period, he added that the LWC team of engineers are presently working assiduously at the site to fix the leakages.

Engr. Badmus assured the public that operation would commence soon to restore Water supply across the State, as the Corporation is expediting necessary action to remedying the situation.

Adiyan Waterworks is one of the major, and the largest Waterworks supplying 70Million Gallons of Water per Day (MGD) to Lagos residents and it’s environs.

Lagos Water Corporation on Friday 19th October, 2018 organised one-day Workshop/Training on Insertion of Electromagnetic Flow Meters, at the Iju Waterworks, Iju.

The Theory and Practical Training was a follow-up to just installed facilities at Adiyan, Iju and Akute Plants during the recently completed rehabilitation exercise at the major Waterworks.

The Program was facilitated by the Plant rehabilitation contractor, Messrs. Idmon Engineering & Construction Company Limited, and coordinated by Engr. Seriki, LWC Procurement Department.

In his presentation, the Training facilitator, Mr. Tade Adegboye, Messrs. Idmon Engineering and Construction Limited said “the Objective of the workshop was to provide operational and maintenance knowledge on the equipment to the participants”.

Adding that the training will further expose them to effective operation of flow meter, its service/maintenance i. e. Removal, checking of the condition of the sensors, procedure for cleaning of sensors/insertion probe, among others.

Participants were drawn from the Production; Distribution & Network Intelligence Departments of Lagos Water Corporation.

The Lagos Water Corporation Iju Waterworks Staff Quarter’s Residents Association celebrated 58th Nigeria Independence Anniversary today Saturday 13th October, 2018.

The Nigeria Independence Anniversary Celebration Family fun fair visited the Nigeria National Museum, Onikan, and Lagos Water Corporation Headquarters, Ijora, Lagos as parts of the activities lined up for the big event/celebration.

However, the Chairman of the Association, LWC Head, Sales and Commercial, Mr. Ajose Michael has lauded the management of LWC, led by the MD/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus for his gesture and support towards the success of the celebration.

“It is an initiative designed towards bringing the Staff and families closer to the Corporation and appreciation of its facilities”.

Mr. Ajose made this assertion before the take off at the Iju Waterworks, he equally praised the efforts of the organising committee, particularly the welfare committee, Mr. Ogundare Olatunbosun, Mrs. Akinnzubi Yetunde, Mrs. Awosanya yemisi, Adekunle and Elisabeth for their contributions.

Mrs. Aroba, Vice Chairman; Engr. Matiluko, Secretary; Mr. Odjegba Micheal, Assistant Secretary; Mr. Biliaminu Lasisi, Treasurer and Mr. Ogunjobi Bolaji.

The celebration ought to have taken place before today, but for the aborted NLC Nationwide Strike that paralysed activities all over the country.

The Nigerian National Museum, Onikan is a national museum of Nigeria, located in the city of Lagos was founded in 1957 by English Archaeologist, Kenneth Murray.

The museum has a notable collection of Nigerian art, including pieces of statuary and carvings and archaeological and ethnographic exhibits. Of note is a Terra-cotta human head known as the Jemaa Head, part of the Nok culture among other notable artefacts.

It is noteworthy to remind you that the Association celebrated the 57th Nigeria Independence Anniversary on the 2nd October, 2017 with an Excursion to LWC Adiyan Waterworks, Adiyan as pilot stage for the yearly Nigeria Independence Anniversary Celebration.

This year program with the theme: Municipal Solid Waste Management. To reflects on the state of our cities and towns and the basic human right to adequate shelter.

In his keynote address, Lagos State Governor, His excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode attributed Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI) to a holistic approach towards solving the challenges of waste management in Lagos State.

The Governor who was ably represented by Her excellency, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs. Idiat Adebule said the State Government in line with global best practices conceptualised the Cleaner Lagos initiative (CLI), the Initiative to represent strong resolve and commitment of the administration to redefine solid waste management in the State.

“It is designed to address specific issues in waste management cycle including control, collection, storage, treatment, recycle, transportation, and disposal”

He added that the efficiency of this system among others is highly dependent on the inherent opportunities in waste reduction at a point of generation, waste sorting, and demonstration of right attitude that guarantee a sustainable environment.

Gov. Ambode however charged the residents of Lagos to adopt modern and globally acknowledged best practices to ensure effective and efficient waste management in a megacity.

“The focus of this year celebration is particularly relevant to the State, given the challenges of waste management associated with mega cities.

“With population of about 25million people and a daily waste generation estimated at 13,000 metric tones, it is clear that we adopt modern and globally acknowledged best practices to ensure effective and efficient waste management in a megacity, stressing the uttermost importance of Waste – Wealth program in the State”.

He acknowledged the efforts of the previous administration and commended the efforts with the formulation of various policies on municipal waste management.

Adding that the continued growth in the population especially the daily migration from other parts of the country and the resultant effect on waste generation necessitated a refocus, and review of existing system and the adoption of a method that will not only ensure a cleaner city on a sustainable basis, but also harness the economic opportunities in modern waste management.

His excellency reiterated that the best possible methods of managing the solid waste are to reuse, reduce and recycle them.

Effective Solid Waste Manage requires a paradigm shift in the quest for environmental sustainability, a new mind-set to resolve around responsibility, partnership and stewardship, he concluded.

Lagos Water Corporation wishes to inform the general public that due to proposed Nationwide Strike to be embarked upon by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday 27th September, 2018.

Water consumers across the State can vend now (today) in any of the Corporation’s zonal offices nearest to them for continuous Water supply during and after the exercise.

The Lagos Water Corporation today 25th September, 2018 presented Bond Certificates to their 2015 retirees set. The event took place at the LWC Water House Ijora, Lagos.

In his brief speech, the LWC, MD/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus, urged the retirees to use the money judiciously.

“We are thankful to God that the retirees are alive to receive their benefits.
This could not have been achieved singlehandedly, but through the efforts of the entire workers. I appreciate you all”.

Badmus added: “I hail the zeal and courage we have shown towards carrying out our duties and activities, as this is the major reason this corporation is settling the benefits of those who have retired.

The Corporation’s Chief Operating Officer, Engr. Deji Johnson, Head, Projects and Strategy, Engr. Ogunlana Sikiru and Head, Staff Training, Mrs. Alaka Aramide presented the Bonds Certificates to the retirees.

The retirees present at the ceremony are: Mrs. Kafayat Aina Abiola, Mrs. Kuteyi Agnes, and Engr. Adegboye Benedit among others.

The retirees in their vote of thanks, could not hold their surprises, but appreciated Engr. Badmus led administration for living up to expectations, and wished the Corporation success in its future endeavours.
