
LAGOS WATER CORPORATION WINS WATER LEADERS, AFRICA WATER QUALITY AWARDS
The Lagos Water Corporation in the first quarter of the year 2018 has recorded outstanding achievements as the agency won two separate awards in a roll, within the month of April 2018.
These historical achievements will forever linger in the memories of the management and staff of the largest water producer in sub-Saharan Africa as their collective and tireless efforts were globally recognized and applauded.
In Paris,? France, between the 15th and 18th of April 2018, Lagos Water Corporation bagged “Water Leader Award” at the Global Water Summit 2018,? organized by the Global Water Intelligence, in recognition of the corporation’s operational sustainability for Africa?s largest city”.
This was the first time an African country from sub-Sahara would be nominated for the most coveted Global Water Awards which is designed to reward excellence and innovation, recognizing the deals, projects technologies which have been making waves in the past years.
The Global Water Summit widely known as the leading water industry conference, annually brings together thousands of players in the water industry, from top public and private water utilities in the world as well as manufacturers, investors, infrastructural developers and multilateral funding partners in the water industry.
The Minister for Water Resources Engr. Suleiman Hussein Adamu accompanied by the Director for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Engr. Benson Ajisegiri presented the award to Lagos Water Corporation Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus.
While receiving the prestigious award, the LWC boss expressed his profound gratitude to the organizers of the event, and attributed the successes recorded by the corporation to the unflinching support received from the Governor of Lagos State, His excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.
He further said the state government has been proactive in supplying potable water to every home in the state, by investing immensely in the water sector.
?What we are witnessing today is the evidence of the huge investment in? the water sector by the Governor ?Ambode led administration”.
Engr. Badmus lauded the efforts of the management and staff of the corporation towards effective service delivery, saying he is overwhelmed by the staff outstanding performance in moving the corporation to the next level.
He commended the efforts of Engr. MrsTitilola Bright-Oridami of the Monitoring / Evaluation department and Mr.? Anifowoshe O. Rasaq ?Corporate Communication for a good job done during the compilation of materials for the prestigious award.
Highlights of the event included round table discussions on how Lagos Water Corporation intends to bridge the gap in water supply and the opportunities available for private investors and infrastructure developers.
The participants were interested in the possible investment opportunities in the water sector
Other participants interested in the possible investment opportunities in the Lagos water sector were CDC investors, Maynilad , Nexus Group, Total, Xylem, KFW Apex Bank IFC among others.
The corporation in 2017 received an award of excellence from the Yoruba Tennis Club in appreciation of her improved and effective service delivery to Lagosians.
Also, recently, LWC emerged as Africa’s Best Premium Quality Clean Water Solution Provider of the year 2018 in recognition of the quality service provided by Lagos State Government, through Lagos Water Corporation.
