LWC UNVEILS LAGOS STATE HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME, AS ENGR. BADMUS CHARGES STAFF TO COMMENCE REGISTRATION

Lagos Water Corporation today Wednesday 13th February, 2019 officially unveiled the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme (LSHIS), at the Corporation’s Boardroom, Ijora, Lagos.
The LWC Official presentation of the scheme followed the launching of the Scheme by the Lagos State Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
The LSHIS is a statewide health insurance scheme aimed at ensuring that all state residents have access to quality, affordable healthcare services.
“The scheme covers treatment of common ailments in adult and childhood, maternal and child services, preventive healthcare services, selected non-communicable diseases and surgeries”.
The Corporation’s Group Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus during the presentation charged the entire Staff of LWC to take full advantage of the scheme by commencing immediate registration (collection, filling and submitting of forms to LWC, Administration and Human Resources Department).
He added that all levels of LWC Staff would be carried along in the State Health Insurance Scheme, noting that the scheme is expected to commence by March, 2019.
LWC boss however urged the members of Staff to meet with A&HR department for LSHIS registration.
The official presentation was led by the representative of Total Health Trust Ltd. (THT), Mr. Babatunde Sanni who revealed that the Lagos State Health Scheme is mandatory for all residents of the State by legislation.
In his presentation, he stated that the cheering news is that State Government has subsidised the Civil Servant payment by 75%, which allows payment of 25% to all officials of the State, which will be deducted from Individual’s salary annually and payment goes to Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA).
” To register as an individual/single, you are expected to pay N8,500 annually, while as a family (father, mother and 4children) is N40,000 annually (subsidy exclusive).
“However, with the introduction of 75% subsidy (N30, 000 from N40, 000 for State Civil servant, family plan) by the Lagos State Government , Lagos State Official (family plan) now to pay balance of N10,000 annually (12months) to be deducted from his/her salary.
“Additional family member registration outside 4children attracts extra payment of N6,000, for a child under 18years, and N8,500 for any members of the family above 18years.
“The LSHIS benefit package is designed to meet the basic healthcare needs of all residents in the state.
This include: Registration, Consultation and Treatment of:
Outpatient Care for Common aliments and conditions
Inpatient care (Hospital admission.
Child welfare services
Sexually transmitted diseases
Referrals, among others
“Undoubtedly, the birth of the scheme will not only contribute to improving the overall health indices, but also strengthen the healthcare delivery system”.
The Scheme has 130 health care providers stationed across Lagos State to ensure success and sustainability of the scheme.
“These selected providers will guarantee quality healthcare delivery to all enrollees.
“The quality improvement programme is designed to ensure that all empanelled healthcare providers continually strive for excellence to meet international best practices.”
