In his aspirations to make Lagos a greater State, His Excellency, Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is set to complete the 70Million Gallons per Day (MGD) Adiyan II within 18months.

The Governor made this statement during his tour to the Lagos Water Corporation Facilities, Adiyan, Iju plants and Akute Intakes today Thursday 10th October, 2019.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu, who was received by the Group Managing Director/CEO, Lagos Water Corporation, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus at the ongoing Adiyan II plant stated that “our commitment in provision and supply of potable water in the State is how to complete the Water project within 18 months”.

He added that 70MGD is a massive gallons of water any where in Nigeria, adding that his administration would finalize the funding aspect of the project to make the plant working for the citizens of the state towards bringing additional 70MGD to the already existing Water capacities in the State.

He stressed that on completion the Adiyan II Water project would reduce water born disease, as one of ways to measure poverty, is lack of access to drinking water, as stated in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), goal 6.

70MGD Adiyan phase II construction was commissioned to Zalini Nigeria Ltd. by Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola’s administration, on completion, the milestone project would serve western axis of the State.

Other places toured by the State Governor included 45MGD Iju Waterworks and Akute Intakes (source of raw water supply to both 70MGD Adiyan I and 45MGD Iju Waterworks).

Governor Sanwo-Olu was accompanied by his Deputy, Dr. Hamzat Kadiri, Chief of Staff, Mr. Muri Okunola, and some Executive members of Lagos State Cabinet.
