NORTH EAST REGION LAUDS LWC PROFESSIONAL WATER QUALITY SPECIALIST MONITORING TEAM AS ITS TAKES EXERCISE TO THE REGION

Water quality monitoring is defined as the sampling and analysis of water constituents and conditions, which may include Introduced pollutants, such as pesticides, metals, and oil Constituents found naturally in water that can nevertheless be affected by human sources, such as dissolved oxygen, bacteria and nutrients.

The magnitude of their effects can be influenced by properties such as pH and temperature. For example, temperature influences the quantity of dissolved oxygen that water is able to contain, and pH affects the toxicity of ammonia.

State, local water quality professionals, have been monitoring water quality conditions for many years. In fact, until the past decade or so (when biological monitoring protocols were developed and began to take hold), water quality monitoring was generally considered the primary way of identifying water pollution problems.

Today, professional water quality specialists and volunteer program coordinators alike are moving toward approaches that combine chemical, physical, and biological monitoring methods to achieve the best picture of water quality conditions.

The importance of Water Quality Monitoring cannot be under estimated, because this is to identify whether waters are meeting designated uses, amongst other.

While taking the exercise to the North East Region of its operation coverage, the LWC North East Region has lauded the activities of the Lagos water corporation, Water Quality Specialists Monitoring Team on Wednesday 4th March, 2020 for its professionalism, effectiveness and efficiency to ascertain the quality of water supplied to the Corporation Customers’ homes to ensure consumption of potable water and promotion of good water sanitation and hygiene in the State.

The exercise is in continuation of its regular water quality routine checks (Sampling & in-situ Analysis) on water delivered to her customers.

The monitoring unit took water samples from the Customers’ homes and analyse on the spot.

The result would be made known to interested customers on request.
