Water Quality Monitoring: LWC SENSITISES RESIDENTS ON QUALITY SERVICE DELIVERY

Following improved water supply in Lagos State, as a result of repair of clear water pumps at the Iju water plant by Lagos Water Corporation, which improve service delivery to Lagosians, LWC Water Quality Monitoring team has continued its holistic Water Quality Monitoring Sensitisation/Awareness campaign and Strict Monitoring of Water produced from her Waterworks in order to ascertain quality service delivery to her customers and assured that residents are served with good quality water produced.

This was revealed in Lagos on Wednesday 26th August, 2020, when the LWC Water Quality Monitoring team visited the South East region of LWC Operations coverage area on sampling of water at the customers taps.

While responding to Customers’ complaints relating to quality of water, amongst others, LWC restated that Water produced by LWC undergo series of treatment to ensure its potability and fitness for human consumption.

“Our Water Quality Monitoring team always carry out analysis on water produced to ensure that it conforms with World Health Organisation (WHO) standards, as results of water quality produced at LWC waterworks are displayed daily on LWC platform”.

Adding that the team engages in periodical monitoring of water quality at the customers taps across the state to ensure quality service delivery.

While faulting customers on most of the complaints received on coloured water, LWC explained that these are largely due to Sewage through broken service pipe leading to customer’s residence; Non maintenance of customer’s reservoir tank by not washing & covering the tank to protect it from dirt; Using the same reservoir tank to store water from LWC and another source of water I.e borehole/well that the quality cannot be ascertained.

However, the Corporation has said, if the above remedy is addressed and the challenges persist, the Customer should visit the nearest LWC zonal offices with Customer’s details, as the Corporation is ready to visit and attend to such complaints as the LWC is undauntedly committed to deliver potable water to every home in the State.
