LASG ASSURES RESIDENTS OF REJUVENATED LWC TO PERFORM AT ITS EFFICIENCY, ATTRIBUTES CURRENT WATER DISRUPTION TO POWER PROBLEM

Lagos State Government has assured the State Residents of rejuvenated Lagos Water Corporation to perform at its efficiency, attributed current Water disruption experienced in some parts of the State to Power problem.

This assertion was made by the Honourable Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello, today Thursday 29th April, 2021 at the State 2021 Ministerial Press Briefing in commemoration of the second year of the administration of Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu @ the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja , Lagos, branded “Sanwo-Olu 731 Days and Beyond”, to give account of stewardship of the Ministry in the last two (2) years in Lagos State.

In his statement, Mr. Bello said water provision in the State is a task for the state government to its residents, adding that the Corporation is presently undergoing a restructuring process for effective and efficient performance.

He stated that the LASG through the LWC has recorded 85% completion of the ongoing Construction of 70Millions Gallon per Day (MGD) Adiyan II Water plant.

” A negotiation took place between the Lagos Water Corporation and Ogun State Government on the ceding of Right of Way for Reticulation/laying of pipes for the network of Adiyan phase II Water project.

“On the issue of Right of Way, the process has been settled/completed and has paved way for the commencement of laying of pipes for the project.”

Mr. Bello however added that LWC is also responsible for the provision of potable water supply to the affected areas of the State.

The project is expected to serve over three million residents in communities including, Ikotun, Idimu, Isolo, Agege I & II, Ajegunle, Lagos west, Amuwo Odofin, amongst others, he stated.
