Lagos Island Connect (LIC) Visit to LWC: ENGR BADMUS REKINDLES ISLANDERS HOPE TOWARDS IMPROVED SERVICE DELIVERY

The Lagos Water Corporation has rekindled the hope of Lagos Island residents towards improved service delivery in the area of State.

This was revealed by the LWC Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus during the visit of the Lagos Island Connect (LIC) to the Corporation, yesterday Tuesday 5th April, 2022.

The LIC who was in LWC to address the issue of scarcity of Water supply in the area, was led by its Co-founder, Ms. Yemisi Ransome kuti. Other LIC delegates were: Lagos Island Council Manager, Mr. Hakeem Disu and LIC Community Mobilisation/Liaison Manager, Mr. Layeni Aliu.

In his statement, the LWC boss explained “the Corporation is aware of the problem of shortage of Water supply facing Lagos Island, and this has been escalated to Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (Lagos State Governor) who has assured of a positive response”.

He further stated that portion of the Onikan Mini Waterworks that is responsible for the production and supply of potable water to the affected area of the State got burnt sometimes ago and yet to be fixed, adding that plans are also underway to rehabilitate 70Millions Gallons per Day (MGD) Adiyan and 45Million Gallons per Day (MGD) Iju Waterworks to perform optimally, to boost water supply to the Lagos State, particularly, Lagos Island.

Engr. Badmus also reaffirmed that the State Government is working to resolve issue of electricity supply that has been cut off at the moment, and committed towards closing Water demand gap in the State in general, he stated.
