Diversification of Potentials: NIGERIANS PRAISE LWC FOR HER INITIATIVE IN ACQUIRING FITR EQUIPMENT

…LWC reaffirms its commitment towards improving water supply in the State, as rehabilitation of Water Treatment plant is ongoing.

Praises have started trooping into Lagos Water Corporation from all walk of life of Nigeria, particularly, Lagos, Abuja, Niger, Ogun, among others, due to her Diversification of potentials, especially, acquiring of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) equipment for various analysis.

LWC Administration under the leadership of Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus recently acquired/established a business strategy than that of its primary mandate of Provision of Safe Drinking Water to Lagos residents.

LWC, Water Quality Assurance has installed, publicised and commenced the use of FTIR for various analysis, an uncommon business strategy/initiative among its peers in the industry.

The FTIR equipment of the Consultancy Laboratory is used for analysis in the following field; Industrial, Environmental, Oil & Gas and Pharmaceutical.

The analysis includes: Materials and Verification, Polymer Identification and Quantification, Co-polymer and Blend Assessment, Additive Identification and Quantification, Contaminants Identification, and Molecular Degradation Assessment.

The development has gain lots of commendation for LWC from several Corporate Organisations, Institutions and individuals for diversification of its potentials, which is worth applauding and emulating.

These commendations came inform of calls and posts to acknowledge the opportunities the Corporation has opened for the itself and the State/Country at large.

In another related development, the Corporation recently, Inaugurated Water Quality Consultancy Lab to render Water analysis services to the general public.

The exercise is to ensure that Lagos residents consume safe (germ free) and qualitative water, as this are parts of the LWC Management commitment and responsibilities.

Other Water Analysis Services render include: a) Physio-Chemical Analysis (Tests of physical and chemical profile of water sample) b) Microbiological Analysis (Tests of the microbiological quality of water sample) c) Full or Comprehensive Analysis (Tests the physical , chemical and microbiological profile of water sample) d) Chemical Demand Test -Determines the water treatment chemicals and the quantity required to make the water sample potable) e) Treatment Chemicals Analysis (Determines the potency of water treatment chemicals), among others.

Under this project, Water Consumers are expected to bring their water samples to the Corporation for analysis on payment of a token.

However, LWC Management has reaffirmed its commitment towards improving water supply in the State, as rehabilitation of Waterworks is in progress.

It is noteworthy that Rehabilitation exercise has commenced at Ishasi Water Treatment plants, as plans are underway to resuscitate Iju and Adiyan Waterplants for optimal water production and supply.

“To improve water supply, the administration has commissioned the rehabilitation of the Ishasi Water Treatment plant, that of Iju, Adiyan and the intakes will also kick start soon. When completed, water supply will improve.

“Also, the construction of Adiyan II Water treatment plant is ongoing and is at about 85% completed.

“At completion, an additional 3 million people will get access to this water”

Elsewhere, Mosan Okunola and Dolphin Estate Waterworks new borehole commissioning is in progress for service delivery.

Dolohin Estate Water Disruption: WE ARE COMMITTED TO SERVICE DELIVERY IN LAGOS STATE- Lagos Water Corporation

…explains efforts made towards reinstating Water supply to the Estate

…appeals to residents for Cooperation, Support and Understanding towards achieving desirable results

Lagos Water Corporation has restated its commitment towards service delivery to the residents of the State, particularly, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.

This assertion was made on Wednesday 20th April, 2022, at Ijora, Lagos.

While explaining efforts made so far towards reinstating Water supply to the affected Community of the State, which was earlier disrupted by saline affected borehole.

The Corporation explained, “it is pertinent to keep the residents of Dolphin Estate abreast on efforts made by the Corporation towards restoration of Water supply to the Dolphin Estate, as the Corporation is ever committed towards service delivery in Lagos State.

LWC stated, “following meeting held at Dolphin Estate Association Secretariat, Ikoyi on Saturday 13th March, 2022 on the way forward towards restoration of Water supply to the affected Estate.

LWC continued, “the Management of LWC has continously embarked on vital activities/efforts as planned to revive the saline/collapse borehole, thereby restoring Water supply to Dolphin Estate.

Further explained, “in as much as we engaged/employed one efforts or the other to remedifying the problems hindering Water production from Dolphin Waterworks to the Estate. It is disheartened to announce at ths stage, that, we continously encountered one challenge or the other which detered our efforts to achieve set goal, that undermine our hope of Water restoration”.

At this premise, It is worthwhile to inform you, our Premium Customers that the Corporation has concluded plans to dig new borehole to replace Saline affected borehole which disrupted potable water supply to the Estate, since 28th February, 2022.

The Corporation, however, apologised to the residents of Dolphin Estate for the present Water disruption being experienced, sorry for the inconvenience this might have caused and appealed to the residents for Cooperation, support and understanding, as the Corporation is working assiduously to reinstall Water supply to the Estate soon, LWC stated.

Update on Lekki, Alexander Water Distruption: LWC BRINGS RELIEF TO LEKKI, PARK VIEW ESTATE RESIDENTS AS OPERATIONS RESUME

There is relief among the residents of Lekki, Park view estate of Lagos State, as Lagos Water Corporation restored potable water supply to the affected areas earlier disrupted by Lekki Independent Power Plant (IPP) Power outage due to capacity issues.

The Corporation on Thursday 14th April, 2022 in its release/statement stated that operations has resumed at the Lekki and Alexander Waterworks respectively.

LWC added, “We wish to inform the public, particularly, residents of Lekki and Park view estate, Ikoyi, that power on Lekki IPP is being restored at Lekki and Alexander Waterworks on Tuesday 12th and 13th April, 2022 respectively, as Water productions are in progress.

“Efforts are ongoing to commence operation at the Saka Tinubu Waterplant, also affected by Power outage”.

While apologising to the general public for the Water disruption in the State, the Corporation wishes Lagos residents Happy Easter Celebrations in Advance, restating its commitment towards improving water supply in the State.

Lagos Island Connect (LIC) Visit to LWC: ENGR BADMUS REKINDLES ISLANDERS HOPE TOWARDS IMPROVED SERVICE DELIVERY

The Lagos Water Corporation has rekindled the hope of Lagos Island residents towards improved service delivery in the area of State.

This was revealed by the LWC Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus during the visit of the Lagos Island Connect (LIC) to the Corporation, yesterday Tuesday 5th April, 2022.

The LIC who was in LWC to address the issue of scarcity of Water supply in the area, was led by its Co-founder, Ms. Yemisi Ransome kuti. Other LIC delegates were: Lagos Island Council Manager, Mr. Hakeem Disu and LIC Community Mobilisation/Liaison Manager, Mr. Layeni Aliu.

In his statement, the LWC boss explained “the Corporation is aware of the problem of shortage of Water supply facing Lagos Island, and this has been escalated to Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (Lagos State Governor) who has assured of a positive response”.

He further stated that portion of the Onikan Mini Waterworks that is responsible for the production and supply of potable water to the affected area of the State got burnt sometimes ago and yet to be fixed, adding that plans are also underway to rehabilitate 70Millions Gallons per Day (MGD) Adiyan and 45Million Gallons per Day (MGD) Iju Waterworks to perform optimally, to boost water supply to the Lagos State, particularly, Lagos Island.

Engr. Badmus also reaffirmed that the State Government is working to resolve issue of electricity supply that has been cut off at the moment, and committed towards closing Water demand gap in the State in general, he stated.

Lagos Water Corporation has attributed present disruption of Water supply at the LWC Lekki, Saka Tinubu and Alexander Waterworks to the Independent Power Plant (IPP) Power outage at Lekki

This was revealed by the Corporation today, Monday 4th April, 2022 in Lagos.
In its statement released, “the present disruption of Water supply to some parts of the State, namely: Lekki, Saka Tinubu and park view estate is as a result of Lekki IPP Power Outage due to capacity issues”.

LWC has however affirmed that efforts are ongoing for alternative power supply, adding that LWC is working to improve and stabilize service delivery in the State.

The Corporation therefore regrets any inconveniences caused, and appeal to the residents of the affected areas to bear with LWC, as the Corporation has assured of restoration of potable water supply soon.

…urges Staff to be an active members

Lagos Water Corporation has okayed the Nigerian Institute of Water Engineers (NIWE) Lagos Chapter Secretariat domicile in LWC water-House, Ijora.

The endorsement to the request made by the National body of the Institute was made known recently in Lagos during her Courtesy visit to LWC Headquarters, Ijora, Lagos.

In his statement, the LWC Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus urged the Corporation Staff members to be an active members towards moving the Institute forward.

The NIWE National Chairman, Engr. (Mrs). Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe in company of the National Vice Chairman (NIWE) Engr. (Dr.) Adeyinka Sabowate; NIWE National Coordinator, Engr. T. E. Adeboyeji; National Coordinator, Engr. Dominic Onuh Nkuboh, among other executive members has visited LWC to appreciate and felicitate with Engr. Muminu Badmus led Administration for their contributions and achievements in Water Sector.

“We have come to LWC to partner and promote NIWE Chapter in LWC, as there are large numbers of Engineers in the Corporation.

” As long as you have something to do with Water, Service provider, Water Engineers, you are free to join the Institute”.

The National Chairman however thanked the Management of LWC for the approval and rear opportunity, as the Corporation has extended such privilege to other professional bodies, such as Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), amongst other.

NIWE is a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, with the objective to serve as an umbrella professional body for Engineers and Associates from Water related disciplines to ensure effective utilisation of human and materials resources for the professional development and enhancement of professional competence of its members through capacity building programmes, public awareness/campaign, publication of journals and promotion of WASH through the establishment of Water and Hygiene Clubs in Secondary schools.

Prominent LWC Engineers present were: Engr. Bolaji Ogunlewe, Engr. Ibraheem Yinusa Abiodun, Engr. O A. Orioye, Engr. Saheed Olatunji, Engr. Ogunwusi and Engr. Festus Omoike.

The NIWE National Conference is coming up between 12th – 15th September, 2022.

Lagos Water Corporation has attributed the present disruption of Water supply to some parts of the State to the current National Power Systems Collapse.
This was revealed today, Wednesday 16th, March, 2022, in Lagos.
The Corporation in its statement explained that the “current water disruption is as a result of National Power Systems Collapse which also affected Water Production and Supply at our major waterplants at Adiyan, Iju”, adding that operations are ongoing at the other Mini Waterworks across the State.


LWC therefore regrets any inconveniences caused and assured the general public of restoration of Water supply to the affected areas soon.

The Corporation however reaffirmed its commitment to close water demand gap in the State, by improving Water supply, thanking Lagosians for their usual Cooperation and Understanding.
