LWC ASSURES RESIDENTS OF BARUWA COMMUNITY OF REGULAR WATER SUPPLY SOON
…attributes challenges to Borehole issues, amongst other
Lagos Water Corporation has assured residents of Agbowa Community of the State of regular potable water supply soon.
The LWC Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus stated this during his interview session with the correspondent from Television Continental (TVC), Mrs. Salam Adedoja, in his Ijora Office, recently.
The Managing Director attributed the present water problem of Abesan (Mosan Okunola Waterworks), designed to supply water to the Community to borehole issue, Network leakages, among others, which disrupt service delivery to the Baruwa Community.
While faulting the residents of the community of non payment of water bills, which are token compared to the cost of water production and delivery to the Community, Engr Badmus revealed that plans are ongoing to construct/dig more boreholes at the Abesan (Mosan Okunola Waterworks) for restoration and effective service delivery.
Adding that the ongoing 70MGD (Millions Gallons per Day) Adiyan phase II Water project is also dedicated to the Western part of the State, which Baruwa Community will also be a beneficiary.
“Presently, the ongoing Construction of Adiyan 70MGD is close to 85% completion and Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is ever committed to complete the project during his tenure in Office.
“The ongoing project is expected to serve over 3million residents in the western axis of the State. Benefiting communities will also include, Ikotun, Idimu, Isolo, Agege I & II, Ajegunle, Lagos west, Amuwo Odofin etc”.
Engr. Badmus in his statements enumerated some challenges militating against regular water supply in the State, such as Ageing Infrastructure, Erratic Power Supply, Population Influx, Water Wastages and Unaccted for Water, amongst other.
All these are major problems facing LWC major Waterworks (Adiyan, Iju and Ishasi) operations, and greatly affecting their designed capacities, as the Corporation is continously working towards closing water demand gap in the State”, he said.
